Malawi
October 2010
(Applications will start being accepted in March of 2010)
Malawi is a diverse, mountainous area in the southern part of Africa. You might know it because of Madonna but there is so much more to it than adopting orphans, Malawians have a rich tribal culture that extends beyond the small villages.
Lake Malawi is the 3rd largest lake in Africa with approximately 600 species of fish, however it is one of the poorest countries in the world.
We will be working with an orphanage near a town called Lilongwe and we will be staying on Lake Malawi! This is a true volunteer experience, eating local food, sleeping in sleeping bags, being close to wild animals and working with the beautiful Malawi children! For those of you that do not go on the game reserve trip, we'll have plenty of fun on the gorgeous Lake Malawi!
For those of you wanting to bring items with you for the children, please contact us first to make sure the items are appropriate. We will be posting a list of things for you to bring as soon as we get more information.
Plus there is an optional side trip to a game reserve (*please note this is an additional fee- see below):
